Hospitality Entrepreneur Charlie Palmer to Open Hotel in Heart of Downtown Las Vegas

Charlie Palmer Hotel: Luxury, Lifestyle, Location

May 17, 2007, Las Vegas, NV – In a town of mega-resorts, hospitality entrepreneur and celebrated chef Charlie Palmer announces the Charlie Palmer Hotel, a truly boutique project at Union Park in the heart of downtown Vegas that brings together three significant elements: luxury, lifestyle, location.

As a major property within the Union Park master plan, the innovative non-gaming hotel, which includes a small community of residential condominiums, is located adjacent to Symphony Park and The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. The project is a joint venture between San Francisco based City-Core Development and the Charlie Palmer Group, combining the best of what the respective companies offer – urban real estate development and hospitality development and operation. "We identified the need in the Las Vegas area for luxury accommodations with elevated amenities in a non-gaming environment", explains City-Core Development President Richard Kaufman. "We plan to prove downtown, specifically Union Park, a highly desirable destination and provide guests with phenomenal service and luxurious accommodations without a casino."

On May 2, 2007, the Las Vegas City Council unanimously voted to sign an exclusive negotiating agreement with the Palmer City-Core Union Park Hotel project.

"With this announcement, Union Park is well on its way to becoming the urban downtown center we have long envisioned for this site," said Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman. "As an award winning celebrated chef and hospitality entrepreneur, Charlie Palmer is a perfect fit for Union Park - bringing his strong sense of design, style and sophistication to an already exciting project. We are thrilled with this partnership and are proud he chose downtown Las Vegas as the home of his first boutique hotel/condominium."

"Today’s Vegas evolution is focused on the hotel experience," says Palmer, whose jewel-box Hotel Healdsburg in Sonoma, California was named to Conde Nast Traveler’s Gold List 2005 of Top Places to Stay. "Gambling is no longer this town’s only attraction; it’s about enjoying a luxurious hideaway."

Anticipated home to over 400 elegantly appointed and spacious suites and rooms, the hotel’s 10,000 square-foot-spa combines recreational fitness and restorative wellness amenities and opens onto a Hollywood-style pool surrounded by tented cabanas with alfresco dining available from an indoor/outdoor breakfast/lunch/dinner bistro. A top floor Charlie Palmer fine dining restaurant features a sky terrace that overlooks Symphony Park and The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
