The newest addition to the Napa Valley dining scene, Harvest Table, is poised to open this Friday, May 15, 2015 at Harvest Inn by Charlie Palmer in St. Helena. Harvest Table is a Wine Country kitchen featuring menus that highlight locally sourced ingredients and the best of the Napa Valley. The 110-seat restaurant will serve lunch Wednesday through Friday, brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, and dinner Tuesdaythrough Sunday. Harvest Table’s 12-seat bar and outdoor front porch space will be open daily welcoming Napa Valley residents and visitors alike.

Food
Along with Chef Palmer, Executive Chef Levi Mezick, whose credits include a James Beard nomination at Restaurant 1833 in Monterey, CA in 2012, oversees the newly built kitchen and hyper-seasonal menus. Menu offerings are inspired and fueled by the resort’s five culinary gardens, as well as local artisanal producers. Chef Mezick and Culinary Horticulturist Laura McNiff work side-by-side to design and develop the edible gardens as a source of pride and produce for the restaurant’s menus.

Menus into three sections: Snacks, Starters, and Plates. Notable items include Roasted Carrots with Buttermilk, Vadouvan, and Granola; Poached Petrale Sole with Saffron Nage, Lemon Thyme, and Garden Beans; Potato Gnocchi with Ramp Butter, Croutons, and Charred Favas; and the Harvest Table Burger with Fontina Cheese, Housemade Bun, French Fries, and Bread & Butter Pickles. Chef Mezick will feature a daily changing family style dish meant for sharing, such as a Whole Roasted Truffle Chicken with Parmesan Polenta, Morel Mushrooms, and English Peas. Executive Pastry Chef Andrew DiClementi, most recently of Palmer’s Sonoma County restaurant, Dry Creek Kitchen, showcases his sweet talents with an array of desserts that include the signature Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar with Dark Chocolate Marquis, Peanut Butter Mousse, and Chocolate Sorbet and a Neapolitan Ice Cream “Sammies” with Bourbon Vanilla, Bittersweet Chocolate, and Strawberry Marmalade Ice Creams. “The menus we’ve created are approachable, ever-changing, and truly home grown,” says Chef Palmer. "Levi brings a very honest and current style of cooking with very little gimmickry. His dishes are well composed and complete, interesting and textural, but at the same time they're very natural and not overly fussy. I think people are going to be really excited about what they see and taste on the plates here at Harvest Table."


Wine
Great food deserves great wine and in that spirit, the wine team at Harvest Table has sourced an incredible collection of local wines that include many Napa Valley classics along with some great up-and-coming superstar wines. As Harvest Table’s menus reflect the influences of cuisines from all over the world, a similar--yet unique--approach was taken in the development of the restaurant’s wine program. The list also incorporates a number of “Blind Vine” wines, which is a collection of non-Napa Valley and international wines denoted only with an asterisk (*) followed by hints and descriptions of what to expect, grape, and price point. These “Blind Vine” wines will rotate and vary as the wine team procures different and interesting selections and are intended to educate guests interested in blind tastings and wine education, as well as drinking great wines from outside of the surrounding region. As it’s often said here in Napa Valley, “If you’re not drinking Napa, you’re drinking blind.”

Décor
Harvest Table, an airy space flanked by alfresco dining terraces that overlook the property’s eight acres of abundant landscaping, offers a welcoming atmosphere for relaxed Wine Country dining, High-beamed ceilings and a blown glass teardrop chandelier front the U-shaped bar and restaurant dining area, where smooth wood finishes are offset by an oversized, classic brick fireplace under the glow of abundant natural light. The walls are adorned with Napa Valley-inspired artwork from local painter Kate Salenfriend, on loan from Aerena Galleries & Gardens, and the restaurant is decorated throughout with elements from the hotel’s gardens. Taking inspiration from its juxtaposition of organic and man-made landscaping, Harvest Table is an honest and refined restaurant, ideal for St. Helena gatherings.
