Restaurant Week set for August 15-21, The Washington Post

8/15/2011
Location: Charlie Palmer Steak, DC

On your mark, get set...call!

The key to an enjoyable and value-driven — or even semi-enjoyable and semi-value-driven — Restaurant Week experience is to make your reservations now for the priciest and choicest establishments on the list of participating eateries. Places like 2941 or Adour or Bistro Bis or Charlie Palmer Steak or the Oval Room.

Are you picking up the phone yet (or sneaking over to OpenTable) to make a reservation? Believe me, others are already way ahead of you.

The folks behind the semi-annual Washington D.C. Restaurant Week have just announced that the promotion will run from Aug. 15 to 21, and this time the prices are $20.11 for lunch and $35.11 for dinner.

As always, the promotion, co-produced by the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington, inspires eateries to extend the offer longer than a week, to lure guests into their dining rooms during the doldrums of summer. It also inspires places to offer their own version of a Restaurant Week discount. In other words, keep your eyes open for tabletop savings far beyond the Restaurant Week promotion itself.

And make those calls now.
